First Summer Practice/Post-Practice BBQ

The barbeque will start at 7:45PM at the latest and go until whenever.

So please tell your parents about it. Everyone is welcome. Bring a dish, dessert, grill, whatever! The idea is just to have fun and kick off the summer right. If you can’t make this one, we should have plenty more the rest of the summer – culminating with a big barbeque after the PVI ALUMNI RUN in early September. So alums, please start clearing your schedule!

Flotracker

In an effort to make things MUCH EASIER for you guys, Coach Rankin, and myself, I would like you all to go to www.flotracker.com and sign up. Many of you I have sent invitations to. If I haven’t, shoot me an e-mail or comment below.

They just redid the WHOLE site, so there are still some problems with the ‘running log’ aspect of Flotracker, but by June 18th – the day your mileage counts towards varsity points – everything should be perfect. The main reason for this is to have an online platform where it is all in one place, plus there are other features…but you guys can have fun with them all on your own.

Please do it before the first day of practice IF you want to get points towards your varsity letter. Only people to sign up so far: Alec Holland and Nick Vadino.

Cross Country Season Around the Corner!

The State Parochial A Meet ended this past weekend with no Paul VI runners qualifying for the Meet of Champions, but a definite running future was set in motion.

We took 2 sophomores and a freshman up to South Plainfield. Michael Rankin PR’d by 5 seconds, running ane extremely respectable 4:31 in a loaded Parochial A race. Freshman Tom Hoban, coming off his 10:20, 2nd place finish at South Jersey Parochials, ran a half second PR for a 4:53 – capping a fantastic spring track season for the Harrier. Sophomore Rich McKean ended a great year with a 4:56, which despite not being a PR – showed he was at least ready to attack the rigors of cross country (after ensuring the coaching staff he will in fact be running XC this fall).

Overall, the spring track season did a lot in securing big promise for the upcoming cross country season. A young team exists – with only 2 seniors next year in captain Joe Fiore and Alec Connelly – but everyone seems committed to the cause of making this year the turning point for Paul VI Cross Country. That, of course, is provided that everyone stays healthy!!

Along with the great returnees, there will be several new faces this summer and fall and we continue to hope that we will add even more in the near future! So to all new or prospective runners, if you have any questions – shoot me an e-mail, call me, call our captains, or just show up at the first summer practice…
